The city of Castro is in the center of Chiloé, only three

EL PASADO
Mundos perdidos en un tiempo detenido constituyen los poblados de Curaco de Vélez,
Achao, Quinchao, Chonchi, Huillinco, Quicaví., Tenaún y Quellón, donde la
riqueza de su arquitectura permite adentrarse en el pasado y disfrutar de las
tradiciones de su pueblo que por años ha vivido sin cambios. Especial interés reviste la
gastronomía típica conservada según viejas recetas secretamente guardadas. Punto aparte
son los Palafitos o típicas casas construidas sobre
pilotes enterrados en el fondo marino. Expresión arquitectónica única en su género
dentro de
Chile.
THE PAST
Curaco de Vélez, Achao, Quinchao, Huillinco, Quincaví, Tenaún and Quellón are
cities from the past in a lost world, whose architectural richness allowsyou to back to
the past enjoy the traditions of their peoplee who have lived the same way for centuries.
Typical food, wich uses old secret recipes that have been kept for generations, is a
special attraction.
The Palafitos or typical houses built on sitis driven in the sea for are something to see.
They are a unique architectonic expression of type in Chile.
NATURALEZA VIRGEN
Cucao es la puerta de entrada a una de las pocas áreas boscosas del mundo que conserva el
carácter primitivo de sus especies de flora y fauna, esto es el Parque Nacional Chiloé.
Allí se puede disfrutar de la paz que nos brinda el contacto con una naturaleza no
contaminada y el placer de sus playas de finísimas arenas que se extienden por
varios kilómetros.
WILDERNESS
Cucao the entrance door of one the few wild areas of that still
preserves the primitive character of its flora and fauna, is known as the Natural Park
of Chiloé. There you can enjoy the peace that unpolluted nature offers you and the

La Feria Campesina Lillo y la que se organiza en Dalcahue los domingos
por la mañana, ofrecen gran cantidad y diversidad de artesanías típicas. En ellas
podrá llevarse un trozo de esta tierra encantada por leyendas, de mano de quienes por
años le han dado identidad utilizando formas y materiales conocidos hace siglos.
Shopping
The Handicraft fair of Lillo and the one organized in Dalcahue on
Sunday mornings offer all kinds of typical handcrafts. Here, you will have the opportunity
to take with you a part of the soil enchanted by legends, and shaped by the hands of those
who for years have given it identity using forms and materials known for centuries.
